Councillor Kevin Peel was elected as the first ever Labour & Co-operative councillor for Manchester city centre in May 2011.
Kevin has worked in the public, private and charity sectors, spending several years championing the voice of patients and the public in the health service and most recently working for a sustainable transport charity to increase investment in public transport and walking and cycling.
Kevin chairs the council's Neighbourhoods & Environment scrutiny committee, which scrutinises council policy on neighbourhood services, waste and recycling, housing, the environment and licensing and planing policy.
In his spare time Kevin is a trustee at Greater Manchester Youth Network, a GM-wide charity providing disadvantaged young people with training and volunteering opportunities to boost their skills, confidence and employability. He also serves as a Magistrate, school governor and volunteer teacher of English to speakers of other languages.
Kevin has lived in the city centre for 10 years, moving first to Castlefield and later to Chinatown. He currently lives in the Northern Quarter.
