Councillors celebrate as Labour storm to re-election victory in Manchester city centre.

Cllr Kevin Peel was re-elected with an increased majority today as the first ever Labour councillor to be elected and re-elected in Manchester city centre.

Turnout in the city centre was over 50% - the highest it has been - with over 2,200 residents giving your support to Labour's Kevin Peel. Lucy Powell was also elected as MP for Manchester Central.

Kevin said:

"It has been the greatest privilege of my life to serve the people of the city centre as your councillors for the last four years. I'm proud of what we've achieved together but there is so much more to do to make the city centre a cleaner, greener, safer place to live. I look forward to working with you for the next four years."
