A number of street sellers have been prosecuted for trading illegally in the city centre.
Illegal traders operating in the city centre have been ordered to pay a total of £4,000 and have seen thousands of items of stock seized as evidence.
The prosecutions were made as part of the city council’s continued crackdown on nuisance sellers in the city centre following complaints by residents that they are clogging up some of our busiest shopping streets.
Cllr Kevin Peel said:
"Illegal traders damage legitimate businesses and they cause great annoyance to residents and visitors in some of the busiest parts of the city centre, particularly on and around Market Street. Perhaps this action will make others think twice about trading illegally."
